Maine couple greets their adopted children from Haiti in Sarasota
A young couple from Maine shed some tears of joy and relief when their adopted children from Haiti arrived safe at Sarasota Bradenton International Airport.
Carlyn and Matthew Lenfesty of Winthrop, Maine, welcomed 1-year-old Sasia and 2-year-old Richard to their family Monday night from an orphanage in Cap-Haitien, which is about 83 miles north of Port-au-Prince on the northern coast of the earthquake-ravaged nation.

Housing sales leap in Southwest Florida (AP)
Sales of previously occupied homes took the largest monthly drop in more than 40 years last month across the nation, but Southwest Florida bucked the trend -- in a big way.
Home sales in the Sarasota-Bradenton market rose 43 percent while Charlotte County-North Port saw a 42 percent increase, the Florida Association of Realtors reported Monday.

A December sales surge helped the local housing market buck the national trend and close last year on a high note, according to data released Monday.
Local Realtors sold 872 existing single-family homes in December, a 43 percent jump from the 610 they sold in the same month a year earlier, the Florida Association of Realtors said. Sarasota auction raises $400,000 for Haiti (AP)
Organizers of the annual Amish-Mennonite auction to raise money for Haiti suspected this year's event would be bigger than most years'.

22nd Annual Downtown Sarasota Festival of the Arts
One of the Sarasota area biggest art events. The festival is on Feb. 20-21. Consistently ranked as one of the top 100 Fine Art Shows by Sunshine Artist Magazine, the festival is held along Main Street in Downtown Sarasota.
